In 2017, the Catholic Church commemorated the 100th anniversary of the apparitions at Fátima. The apparitions began on 13 May 1917, when the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children – Lúcia, Jacinta and Francisco. The apparitions continued each month until October 1917, when the famous “Miracle of the Sun” took place.
