Louis Braille, born on 4 January 1809, invented Braille, which enables blind and visually impaired people to read and write. His six-dot system changed the lives of millions of people with visual impairments and opened the way to education and information. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his birth, his immense contribution to equality and inclusion is commemorated on an Italian €2 coin.
