In 2015, Slovakia commemorated the 30th anniversary of the European flag, which had become a symbol of unity, solidarity and harmony among the nations of the European Union. The blue field with twelve golden stars symbolises the ideals of unity and peace underlying the European project. A €2 coin in BU quality was issued in honour of the anniversary and is available in a commemorative card, recalling the importance of the European flag in the history of European integration.
