In 2018, San Marino issued a commemorative €2 coin dedicated to the 420th anniversary of the birth of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, one of the most important Baroque artists. Bernini was a master of sculpture and architecture, and his works, such as St Peter’s Baldachin and the Fountain of the Four Rivers, remain iconic symbols of Rome. The coin captures his artistic legacy and importance to European culture.
