Pinturicchio, an important Italian Renaissance painter, is known for works filled with detail and vivid colour. His output included frescoes, altarpieces and illuminated manuscripts that are now regarded as Renaissance masterpieces. In 2013, San Marino issued a €2 commemorative coin in honour of the 500th anniversary of Pinturicchio's death. The coin was issued in BU quality, giving it considerable collector appeal.
