2 euro Portugal 2022 - Flight across the South Atlantic Ocean (BU coincard)

The 2022 Portugal €2 coin “100 Years Since the First Aerial Crossing of the South Atlantic” is issued in BU quality and supplied in an official card (coincard). In 1922, pilots Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral completed the Lisbon–Rio de Janeiro route and used precise celestial navigation with a specially adapted sextant in flight for the first time. The issue commemorates a technological milestone in aviation and Portugal’s connection with the Lusophone world.
