In 2017, Portugal commemorated the 150th anniversary of the birth of writer Raul Brandão, one of the most important representatives of Portuguese literature. His work is characterised by strong social awareness, poetic language and a profound view of human destiny. Brandão left a distinctive mark on Portugal’s cultural heritage as an author able to combine reality with emotion and symbolism.
