In 2012, the euro celebrated its first decade as a common currency. Its introduction in 2002 united many European countries under a single currency and brought stability and unity to the financial market. Germany issued a special €2 commemorative coin to celebrate this important event. The coin was issued as part of a five-coin proof-quality series bearing the mint marks A, D, F, G and J.
