The Holstentor in Lübeck, located in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, is one of the best-known medieval city gates and a symbol of Lübeck. Built in the 15th century, this Gothic gate is regarded as one of the most important monuments of German architecture. In 2006, the monument was depicted on a German €2 commemorative coin. The coin formed part of a five-coin proof-quality series bearing the mint marks A, D, F, G and J.
