In 2025, Latvia issued a commemorative €2 coin dedicated to the Selonia region, one of the country’s historic areas. The theme highlighted the cultural identity, traditions and regional heritage that shaped the history of south-eastern Latvia. The issue recalled the importance of local history within the national cultural picture. The coin was struck in BU quality and supplied in an official commemorative card.
