For 35 years, the Erasmus programme has enabled students and educators to discover new cultures and gain valuable experience abroad. In honour of this important European educational programme, the Netherlands, together with the other countries of Europe, issued a commemorative €2 coin in 2022. The coin’s motif depicts a portrait of the Dutch humanist Erasmus of Rotterdam together with dynamic links symbolising the exchange of ideas across Europe.
