The Finnish two-euro (€2) coin from 2009 was dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Finland’s autonomy, which began with the meeting of the Diet of Porvoo in 1809. This event represents a historic milestone when Finland became an autonomous Grand Duchy within the Russian Empire while retaining its own laws, administration and identity. The issue therefore commemorates the beginnings of modern statehood and the strengthening of national consciousness.
The coin is struck in proof quality and supplied in its original presentation box together with a certificate of authenticity, underlining its official character.
