In 2021, Belgium commemorated the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Belgium–Luxembourg Economic Union (BLEU), which represents a long-term economic partnership between the two countries. BLEU was created to support the free movement of goods and services, strengthening economic relations and contributing to regional stability. A proof-quality €2 coin was issued to celebrate this important milestone and is available in a case with a certificate, symbolising this important step in European economic history.
