The Belgian €2 coin from 2018 was issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the European Space Research Organisation (ESRO), which later became part of the European Space Agency. The coin’s motif depicts a satellite orbiting the Earth together with the inscription “ESRO” and the dates 1968–2018, symbolising half a century of European cooperation in space research. This design pays tribute to scientific progress and technological innovation in astronautics.
