The Cyprus 2024 €2 coin marking 20 years since Cyprus joined the European Union became an exceptionally sought-after item among collectors because of its low mintage. The coin was issued only in proof quality, meaning that no UNC or BU versions exist. It therefore became the €2 coin with the lowest mintage in history; until the Cyprus 2024 issue, the record had been held by Monaco 2015 with a mintage of 10,000 pieces.
