The Slovakia €100 Gold Collector Coin 2023 “1400th Anniversary of the Establishment of Samo’s Empire” commemorates the formation of the first known supra-tribal political entity of the Slavs in Central Europe. In 623, Samo became the leader of the Slavic tribes and successfully resisted both the Avars and the Frankish Empire during his reign.
The reverse of the coin depicts Samo riding a horse and holding a spear, while the obverse shows medieval horsemen in battle in front of a wooden fortification. The coin was struck in Proof quality from gold with a fineness of 900/1000.
