10 euro Slovakia 2024 - Submission of the Report on the Auschwitz and Birkenau Nazi Camps by Alfréd Wetzler and Rudolf Vrba – 80th anniversary (proof)

Alfréd Wetzler and Rudolf Vrba, two Slovak Jews, escaped from the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in 1944. After escaping, they compiled a report revealing the horrors of the camp, including the gas chambers and the appalling conditions endured by prisoners. This report, known as the Auschwitz Report, was one of the first testimonies concerning the Nazi extermination camps. Wetzler and Vrba risked their lives to inform the world about the Holocaust. Their report had a significant impact and helped mobilise the Allies against the Nazis. In 2024, we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the submission of the report on the Nazi extermination camps Auschwitz and Birkenau by Alfréd Wetzler and Rudolf Vrba, their courage and the importance of testimony in the fight against hatred.
