In 2014, San Marino commemorated the 500th anniversary of the death of Donato Bramante, a Renaissance architect who significantly influenced the development of Italian architecture. The coin depicts one of his most famous works, the Tempietto in Rome, which symbolises his mastery of proportion and classical forms. The detailed design refers to Bramante’s importance in art history and his contribution to Renaissance architecture.
